This was set up by one of our SWCYH parents Kelly Mendrzycki who works at Woodside.
Julie Kolarik, principal, added, "We couldn't be prouder of our Rapids Community and especially the energy, positivity and excitement these young role models brought to Woodside! Go Riverkings!"

Two-year Riverking, Jordan Stear still remembers what it was like to be in a youth hockey program, “I remember looking up to the older players and now as I am one I can’t help but hope to make an impact on players to help push them to love the sport of hockey as much as I do.” A tradition we carry into our Sith season helps define the Riverking culture we hold each season of players to of building hockey up and down the river. SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign young, talented forward from Czech Republic. David Polanda comes from the same advisory group that sent the Riverkings Matyas Kacirek and Tomas Krchnak. Coach Quarters sees a bright future for David. “David is a highly skilled young forward who has been a point producer at every level. At 16 he is still not fully physically mature, but his high hockey IQ and skill set will propel him and give him the opportunity to play with older kids this season. His hard work ethic and desire has pushed him to move away from home at a young age to pursue his dream of playing college and professional hockey.  He will be a strong addition bringing speed and goal scoring ability to the Riverkings this season along with his outstanding dedication and character.” David will be attending Assumption High School this fall. We look forward to having David help us continue to build hockey up and down the river in season SIX! #StriveInvestXcel #SeasonSIX

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings add their fourth player from the state of Iowa. Chase Lewison, former Sioux City Metro player joins teammate Reece McDonald as another rookie forward.  Coach Quarters signed Chase after Riverkings try-out camp. “What I liked most about Chase was his speed with and without the puck, his ability to make plays in tight spaces and his intense competition level. Chase brings a pedigree of winning a high school national championship and was recommended to us by his former teammate Reece McDonald.  Chase brings a passion and a love for hockey along with a strong desire to succeed that fits our  culture.  He portrays the Riverkings identity of playing fast, hard and physical.”  We look forward to Season SIX with Chase as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #StriveInvestXcel

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign former Lincoln High School standout and leading goal scorer Colton Flammini.  Coach Quarters looks forward to the opportunity to continue to help Colton develop  and sees a bright future ahead of Colton with not only the Riverkings but furthering his career to play beyond juniors. “Signing Colton gives our fans a hometown player to cheer for and  also gives Colton an opportunity to give back to his  community through the game he loves. Colton is a player that works extremely hard, has a passion to be the best he can be, and his character demonstrates class and professionalism across the board.” Colton knew the opportunity was too good to pass up when offered to play in his own backyard with the Riverkings and looks forward to the opportunity to continue to give to the community. “I have known Coach Quarters and his staff through  practicing with them these last few years and they treat their players well and work hard to develop and promote them, which is what I was looking for.” We’re happy to have Colton with us as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #StriveInvestXcel

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign big defenseman from Canada. Dawson Leduc hails from Orangeville, Ontario and comes to the Riverkings after playing for the Hill Academy the past three seasons.
Coach Quarters commented on Dawson’s size and skill: “Dawson is a big 6’4”, 215 lb shut down defenseman who plays with an edge and can play in all situations. This is the fourth player from the Hill Academy pipeline and we are excited because the players from the Hill come from a prep school environment based on structure and character, plus they receive outstanding coaching/training and play in a high level league against some of the best competition in North America. What we like about Dawson is his willingness to push himself and the fact that on the ice he competes and plays with an old school competitive streak, but off the ice he is a complete gentleman. We feel he is a perfect fit for our culture which is based on giving back to the community and being a great teammate. We are also encouraged because our staff feels Dawson is just now starting to reach his development and is ready to really take off because of his untapped potential and desire to be the best he can be mindset.” We look forward to having Dawson with us for our SIXth season as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign goaltender Giuliano Lattela. The Montreal native comes to the Riverkings from the Lac St-Louis program which has built a strong tradition in developing goalies.
Coach Quarters learned of Guiliano from a fellow team and decided to investigate further. “Giuliano was recommended to us by another Junior team that had filled all of their import roster spots. This coach is a former NCAA D1 goalie and is known for identifying goalies, so we felt very comfortable offering him a spot on our roster. After doing our homework we are excited because Giuliano has a lot of the same qualities of former Riverking standout goalie (Sam Nelson), both are smaller goalies, but they track the puck extremely well, very athletic, with a high compete level which allows them to make that 2nd and 3rd save. Giuliano is very dedicated to his training on the ice, but what separates him is his hard work off the ice and in the weight room; he is a gym rat and is in tremendous condition. Also, Lattela comes from a hard working family which fits our culture on top of being a strong student who attended a high level prep school out east before last season, so volunteering and hard work are part of his DNA.” We look forward to Season SIX with Giuliano as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #StriveInvestXcel #RollKings

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign young defensemen from Colorado. Joe Blair played for Riverkings 3 year player and 2018-19 Assistant Captain, Cole Creger’s brother, Chance where he was his U16 team’s Captain. Chance Creger is also a former player of Coach Quarters.
Coach Quarters commented on Joe’s skills saying:  “Joe is a young smaller Defenseman with strong edges, see the ice well, and is hard to beat one on one. Having Joe practice with our team last fall I was impressed with his passing ability and skating. Our staff felt Joe was a sponge and not only did he want to improve his game by asking questions he also put in the work and showed confidence and a competitive streak. Joe may be one of our younger players this year but being a natural leader will help us on the ice and in the locker room, plus he fits our culture of volunteering in the community. Joe will be attending Lincoln High School this fall.” We look forward to having Joe with us for season SIX as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign big power forward, Roger Schoenike, from Sun Prairie. Coach Quarters commented on Schoenike’s size, “This is a big signing for the Riverkings because Roger not only has the size and skill all teams look for in a dominant power forward, he also has outstanding character and the potential you want on the ice and off the ice in our community, which is a big win. Roger is young with three years of junior hockey still ahead of him and looks to be a player with a high ceiling that through hard work should result in moving up to the NCDC or NAHL. Although he went back to play his senior year of high school hockey, Roger has over a full season of junior hockey experience. We are very excited for our fans to watch this 6’6” 220 forward impose his will on our competition.”
Roger’s High School coach and former Riverking Captain Austin Luxford had high praise for his player, “[Roger is], very skilled for his size with a great shot. More importantly he’s one of the best locker room guys I’ve ever had. Always has a smile on his face, always is having fun, but flips that switch as soon as it’s game time and puts it all on the ice for the entirety of the game. Great player, outstanding person, phenomenal teammate.”
We look forward to having Roger with us for the 2019-2020 season as we continue to build hockey up and down the river!#SeasonSIX #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Speedy forward signs with Riverkings. Reece McDonald comes to Wisconsin Rapids from the Sioux City Metros. Coach Quarters talked on Reece’s physicality saying: “We are excited to welcome Reece to the Riverkings and we feel our staff has found a diamond in the rough. Reece plays the game the right way and mirrors our veteran Cole Creger whose style of play is fast, hard, and physical. Reece plays the game with skill and an edge which can come as a surprise as he is not very big, but he plays big and isn’t afraid to play in the tough areas. One of the things that really stood out in his game was all the little things he does, from blocking shot to back checking. Plus, he is a great teammate with a positive outlook on life. Reece is one of handful of recruits that was a captain of team and being from Sioux City he fits our hard-working, blue collar mentality.“ We look forward to having Reece with us for the 2019-2020 season as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Max Moore resigns with the Riverkings after coming to the Riverkings mid-season during the 2018-19 season. The Wisconsin native is excited to be back with Riverkings for another season saying, “In this upcoming season I’m really looking forward to being back with the boys., with our eyes on a championship. It’s so fun going to battle everyday with my second family as we all try to achieve the same goal.” Coach Quarters commented on Max’s scoring ability. “Max was a great addition and was a key to the Riverkings going 12-3 after break and helping us secure home ice in the playoffs. Max is a pure goal scorer and makes us stronger up the middle of our lineup. Having another strong center who is good on face offs and hard to play against will really gives the opportunity to build off the Riverkings standard of success. Also, being a Wisconsin native he brings that blue collar mentality that our community is accustom to. Max is the type of player that brings enthusiasm everyday to the rink as well as a high compete level.” We look forward to another season with Max as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #BackForMore #SeasonSIX

SIGNING ALERT!

Kyle Smith resigns for the 2019-2020 season! The Rhode Island native decides to head back to Wisconsin Rapids after a great rookie season contributing his personal success to the Riverkings culture saying, “I am very excited to be returning for another season with the Riverkings. I am looking forward to stepping up to a bigger team role and getting back into the hardworking culture the Riverkings provide players with leading the team to success in many ways. A championship run is in sight for us his 2019-2020 season.” Coach Quarters values Kyle’s work ethic saying, “Kyle Smith is the type of players that is hard to play against because of his skill set, speed, and high competion level. What separates Kyle from most other players is intense work ethic (which he displayed as a rookie) and his ability to push himself to the limit which rubs off on our entire team. He is a player that defines our culture of giving more then you receive. Kyle is ready for a break through season and his confident play towards the end of last season is a good indicator he is ready for a bigger role within this team in the coming season.” We are excited to have Kyle with us for Season Six as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings re-sign Assistant Captain, Haralds Jirgens And Jordan Stear for the 2019-2020 season. Jirgens averaged .82 ppg during his tenure with the Riverkings this season. Stear claimed 35 regular season points in this his rookie season! Coach Quarters stated, “The Riverkings’ mission is to help prepare our players to be the best they can be and advance them through their career.” Jordan Stear commented on the excellent culture the Riverkings provide saying, “I can 100% say that I feel I am a better player now than I was when I first arrived in Wisconsin Rapids last August. The Riverkings’ culture has encouraged me to seize opportunities that come my way and instilled in me the courage to widen my horizons while knowing the organization will always have my back throughout the entire process. I am looking forward to the opportunity to win a championship with the other possible returning players and the team we create next season. I will always be able to call the Riverkings home. ” With the chance to advance to higher leagues we wish our boys all the best but we value their hard work ethic and they know they always have a spot waiting with the Riverkings family. SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign top forward from Wisconsin. Riverkings have a tradition of signing top players late in the recruiting process. Brayden Uttech is a forward from Sun Prairie, WI and played for the Madison Capitals U18 team. Coach Quarters said “Brayden is a player on the cuffs of playing at the tier 2 level and is coming to the Riverkings to help improve his game with the goal of attaining opportunities to play at higher levels or NCAA. Brayden’s skill set of playing a hard forechecking game based on speed and skill, heavy shot and his competitive edge will create an immediate impact on Riverkings from day 1. Brayden is a player I have gotten to know over the last couple years and I am excited to have a hand in his development. Brayden was sought after by almost every team at our level and said he is excited to play on a team with players he has skated with in the past and is looking forward to becoming a part of the Riverking tradition.” We look forward to seeing Brayden and the rest of the team tomorrow as they report for the season! #SeasonSIX #StriveInvestXcel

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign veteran forward from Colorado.  Dante Polamarse comes to the Riverkings from the New Hampshire Monarchs. Coach Quarters said, ”Dante brings veteran leadership and being a 20 year old this is his last kick at the can. Dante will provide the team with a passionate style of play combined with a strong sense of urgency every shift.  The six foot, 205 pound power forward will remind our fans at SWCRC of former three year Riverkings player Richie Young. Dante’s hard shot, physical presence, and intense work ethic will have a positive impact on the ice.  Off the ice Dante will fit our culture of volunteering and giving back to the community.  He is an exceptional student  who comes from a hard working background.” We look forward to having Dante with us as we continue to build hockey up and down the river. #SeasonSIX #StriveInvestXcel

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings sign top line veteran forward from out East. Patrick McCoy joins the Riverkings in his final season of junior hockey. Coach Quarters is excited to the additional veteran leadership being added to the roster. “Signing Patrick is a big step as we continue our quest to remain a top team in what has become a very competitive Midwest Division of the USPHL - Premier. This is a player that we recruited hard last season and feel fortunate that fate brought him to us as a 20-year-old veteran. McCoy plays a heavy, aggressive game in all three zones. He has a high hockey IQ, great stick skills, ice vision and strong leadership qualities. He plays a ‘mans game.’ I am excited for Patrick to join teammate and friend, Jered Stevenson; I know without a doubt that his passion and hard work will help propel our team in a positive direction. The Riverking’s culture will provide a professional environment and supportive fan base that Patrick will excel in.” McCoy looks forward to hitting the ice with his old teammate and Riverking returner, Jered. “I’m excited to play somewhere new, and to join my close friend for our last year of juniors. It is going to be one to remember. I can’t wait to get started.” Jered is also looking forward to having a player and friend like McCoy on the ice with him this season, “Having Patrick come to the Riverkings is a big step in the right direction to achieving our ultimate goal of a championship. He is a great playmaker and brings a physical edge as well.” We look forward to having Patrick with us for Season SIX as we continue to build hockey up and down the river. #SeasonSIX StriveInvestExcel #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverking ink young defenseman from Iowa. Drew Millius is the younger brother of returning forward veteran Luke Millius.
Coach Quarters is looking forward to seeing Drew develop. “Drew has been to most of our games watching his brother last season and even practice with our team, so he knows what to expect more then most first year players and he have a better read on him as an incoming rookie. Drew has solid size, can really skate, great skill set, and plays an aggressive old school physical style that should really help us from day one. This is a player a lot of teams in our division went after but he wanted to be part of our organization. Drew is 17 years old, but he plays a mature game with a great mix of offensive ability but also takes pride of playing strong in our end of the ice. Drew will be attending Lincoln HS this fall.” We look forward to having Drew with us for our Sixth season as we continue to build hockey up and down the river. #SeasonSIX #StriveInvestXcel

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings return veteran to forward core.
19 year old Luke Millius returns for his second season.
Coach Quarters commented on Luke presence on the ice saying: “Luke is an aggressive forward who will impose his will in the opposition with his tenacious forecheck and speed. Returning this 2nd year player is a key to having balance through our line up and with Luke’s strong desire, competitive streak, and blue collar work ethic he makes the Riverkings a tough team to play against. Last year was a learning curve for this hard hitting right winger from Dubuque, Iowa and with his speed up and down the wall added his heavy shot we are looking forward to Luke having a breakthrough season. Luke knows our culture and he is ready to be a leader in and off the ice as a veteran player. This is a key returner to our team! Luke is excited to be back on the ice, especially with his brother this, “I’m excited to have my brother on the ice with me. It’s great to be coming back to the Riverkings and I know we all are really looking forward to the opportunity to punching a ticket to Boston. I’m excited to see where this season will take us.” We are excited to have Luke back with us for Season SIX as we continue to build hockey up and down the river. #SeasonSIX #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

  1.  Riverkings sign young goalies with family ties to Wisconsin Rapids. Ethan Blackburn is a 6’3”, 17-year-old goalie whose father grew up in Wisconsin Rapids. He will be a Senior at Lincoln High School and living with relatives this season.
Coach Quarters explained the fit saying: “Sometimes things are just meant to be. I was told by my wife that someone at work was asking about what their relative should do while looking to play junior hockey even though at the  time he was just 15 years old, at the same time one of my former players thought his young goalie might be ready to play at our level. Turns out they were the same goalie, Ethan. When I spoke with his dad I had no idea he had grown up in Rapids. After doing our homework we feel the stars alined and our staff felt Ethan was worth offering a spot because of his size, ability, and focus to succeed. We are excited to watch his development and welcome the hometown connection.” Former player of Coach Quarters and Ethan’s Coach, Chance Creger commented on Ethan’s abilities: “Ethan is a solid goaltender with a high ceiling. His level to compete gives him the ability to make those big time saves at the right moment and steal games. Ethan’s commitment to the game will serve the Riverkings well for years to come.” We look forward to having Ethan with us for season SIX! #BackForMore #SeasonSIX

SIGNING ALERT!

Riverkings are proud to announce the signing of Minnesota native Danny Klatt. Danny comes from Duluth Marshall High School and was highly recommend by Riverkings advisor, Brent Cullaton. Coach Quarters commented on his hopes for Danny: “Danny is a player that plays with speed and skill and he has a high compete level. What we are excited about when we recruited Danny was not only did he take his game and training very serious, he fits our culture with his strong character and willingness to be the best he can be in everything he does on and off the ice and in the classroom. Danny wakes up everyday with a goal and the desire to work hard and is always looking to improve his game. He is the type of player you build a winning team with.” We look forward to Danny joining us in our sixth season as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSix #BackForMore

Adrien played for Courbevoie before coming to the Riverkings. Coach Quarters commented on Sel and his play, saying: “This French native is very similar to Sebag with good offensive skills and physical play. Adrien has a strong desire to win and wants to continue his education in America. He is a hard worker with a high skill set and fits of culture of giving back to the community.” We look forward to having Adrien with us as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSix #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Zack Hartley resigns with the Riverkings for his third season! Hartley is excited to continue his growth with the Riverkings saying, “As a three year returner I hope to continue to build the culture on and off the ice. We have a strong core from last years team returning this year so I’m looking forward to see how the season goes and hoping to get to Boston for a national championship run. I’m excited to get back into the SWCRC and get back to work.” Coach Quarters talked of Zack’s ability to lead, saying “Zach Hartley is heading into his third season with the Riverkings and has developed into an all round defenseman for the Riverkings. Zack joined our team as a 16-year-old offensive defenseman with an edge and mean streak, now entering his third year he has matured into a player we can count on in all three zones. The Fort Wayne native will be relied on to provide offensive on the power play, but he has evolved into a top penalty killer and shot blocker. Zack was off to a  great season last year but ran into a few injuries that took away from him being able to be at his best. We are excited for Zack to fill a leadership position and he knows our culture and how it transpires both on the ice and in the community. Zack is an outstanding locker room guy and because of his hard work he is ready for a breakthrough season.” We look forward to having Zack back for more in our sixth season as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #SeasonSIX #BackForMore

SIGNING ALERT!

Jered Stevenson signs for the 2019–2020 season. Jered high speed play helped the Riverkings offensively and defensively. Jered is looking forward to working more with Riverkings staff this season: “With the help of Coach Quarters and the Riverkings community I was able to flourish as a player and hit some personal goals I had for myself as a player. I hope to continue to progress in my skill set and learn from my teammates and coaches. The set of returns we have is setting us up for success in 2019-2020 season and getting to Boston is clearly a goal for everyone returning. I can’t wait for the season to begin.” Coach Quarters commented on Jered’s hockey abilities saying, “Jered is a big piece of our teams puzzle as we look to reload and maintain the high level of play our fans are accustom to. As a veteran, Jered will bring experience, puck skills, and a high hockey IQ. On top of all this, the most intimating part of Jered’s game is his speed, especially when he has the puck with his ability to go into an even higher gear. We look for Jered to be a top player for the Riverkings and also one of the top player in the entire USPHL Premier, which should lead to multiple NCCA options. Our coaching staff is very confident that Jered will help lead us on the ice and also being a leader in our locker room and Rapids community.” We are excited to have Jered back for season SIX as we continue to build hockey up and down the river! #BackForMore #SeasonSIX

Having Cole return as a third year center helps shape our leadership on and off the ice. He is a veteran that can be counted on to bring a high level of competition on a consistent basis. Cole is the type of player that makes your organization better at the rink and throughout the community.” Creger is looking forward to the teams composition next season and has high expectations for the season’s success commenting, “As a third year returner I hope to continue to develop my skills with my future in mind all thanks to the environment that the Riverkings provide.
